OK. So buying one ate up precious time I didn't have to give. A few Saturdays back, I stood for an hour in an early morning line in a Santa Rosa, CA mall. I was hungry as well as tired. And the first one I bought broke within 24 hours. So I had to return it and get another. What am I talking about? An iPhone, of course! Yet despite the anxiousness and the annoyances, I must admit, I'm in love with my new, black as night and shiny as a star, iPhone 3G.

So it isn't without self-interest that I'm pleased to announce that all three electronic formats of David Pogue's iPhone: The Missing Manual, Second Edition are available now. That means for a single low price, the Pogue's definitive iPhone resource comes bundled in three formats-- PDF, EPUB, and Mobipocket. The Mobipocket version can be uploaded onto the Amazon Kindle e-book reader. These three formats give you multiple options for reading the book on the most current devices, including Adobe Digital Editions, Blackberries, and the Sony Reader.

As for me, the PDF of Pogue's new iPhone book sits on my desktop. Without it, I still would be struggling over syncing, setting up my email, taking photos, and listening to my voice mail. I'm happy with the ebook. I've also learned there's a mobile-specific URL optimized especially for the iPhone (once I've uploaded my .epub at mobile.threepress.org). I plan to try that, too.

The print version of iPhone: The Missing Manual, Second Edition will be available in mid-August.
